An afternoon in Brugge, Belgium

In the heart of the city of Brugge Belgium is the Belfort Bell Tower.  Of course, we climbed to the top!!  The tower is 290 feet high with 366 steps.  To enter it's 5 Euro per person (our kids, which are 10 and under were FREE).  At the top their are 47 bells and a huge barrel that spins like a music box and plays music.  It was really neat to watch!

The view of Brugge from the top of the Bell Tower

This is Brugge's Square which is the birthplace politically and religiously.  It has the Basilica of the Holy Blood, City Hall and the Old Recorder's House.

Two things you HAVE to try here are Fritters and Waffles.  Off to the far right of this picture is where we experienced both.  Belgium's Fritters (or French Fries) - delish!!  Belgium Waffles topped with Nutella and whip cream - again, delish!

Blinde Ezelstraat (or Blind Donkey Street)
The donkey's who were pulling the wagons would come up to this street they were too scared to cross over the bridge of water.  They had to put blinder's over their eyes and then the donkey's would cross over to the fish market so their owners could sell their fish.

Take a River Cruise while in Brugge!  It is the perfect way to experience the city to its fullest!

Jan Breidel and Pieter de Coninc statue - they are looking toward France as they led a popular uprising against the French king in 1302.

This is where you need to get your Belgium chocolates!  Oh My Goodness!  So good!
