BAYEUX
If you can, try to walk around this little town at night. It was really neat!! Especially the cathedral in town!! The picture below was our first sight of Bayeux - exactly what I pictured a little town in France to look like.
The next morning we walked around town and saw more of picturesque Bayeux, France
The back and side of the cathedral - it totally reminded me of Notre Dame
The front of the cathedral
And the inside
We also saw the Bayeux Tapestry (Tapisserie de Bayeux) which we absolutely LOVED!! It is a 70 yard long embroidery (wool onto linen cloth). It tells the story of William the Conqueror's rise from duke of Normandy to king of England, including his victory over Harold at the Battle of Hastings (1066). But the way the pictures were created are completely entertaining! There is a children's audio guide and the kids were totally laughing at the commentary and all the pictures that coincide. Some of the pictures include men loosing their pants to clothe soldiers, soldiers dying and depicted with their arms and legs separated from their bodies. Writing it down makes it sound quite graphic and terrible for kids but the way the story is told is funny and makes it feel as though it's a comic strip.
