Pisa, Italy

WARNING: DO NOT drive in the city center when trying to get here - it's a 250 Euro fine
(no worries, we didn't do it, but there was a lot of frustration trying to find the tower - it's the same thing in Florence as well.)

The Duomo (Cathedral)
(Pisan Romanesque style)

Giovanni's Pulpit (1301-1311) with the mosaic of Christ in the background

The Baptistry (Italy's biggest at 180 feet tall)
Notice the roof - red tiles on the seaward side and more prestigious lead tiles on the sheltered side.
It's 5 Euro's for one person - kids are FREE

Inside the Baptistry with John the Baptist statue in the center.
At 3 P.M. a man came in, stood in the center, and started singing notes.  The notes would echo back and forth and he was able to create chords.  It was seriously one of the coolest things I've seen/heard.  I highly recommend trying to go at a time when they are getting ready  to sing the chords, you will not be disappointed.

The famous leaning Tower!  Children under 8 years old are not allowed to go up into the tower.  When you buy your ticket they give you an appointed time and you basically wait around until it's your turn.  There is the option to buy them ahead of time on-line.  We couldn't guarantee the time we were going to get there so we didn't do that.  Go HERE to for more information.  For one person it's 15 Euro, and our kids were NOT FREE.

Check out the view though - totally worth it to me!
