Naples, Italy

I wanted to go to Naples, Italy in order to visit the Archaeological Museum where a lot of the art from Pompeii was relocated (more information HERE), and to see the Veiled Christ (seen HERE)

The Museum cost 6,50 Euro each (we may have had to pay for our oldest who is 9 but I can't remember)

Toro  Farnese

It's 13 feet tall, the tallest ancient marble group ever found, and the largest intact statue from antiquity.  Here a woman is being tied to a bulls horns but two men while another woman (back right, I don't think you can see her) stands by watching

The story goes -- King Lycus was bewitched by Dirce.  He abandoned his pregnant wife, Antiope.  The single mother then gave birth to twin boys.  The boys grew up, killed their dad who abandoned them, and tied Dirce to the horns of a bull to be killed.

The original, 20 inch high, statue of the Dancing Faun that was located in the House of the Faun

The original Battle of Alexander which decorated the House of the Faun.
It was damaged while moving it from Naples to the King's collection here.

The intersection at which our hotel was left and the Archaeological Museum is the pink building on the right.  This is just a typical intersection - crazy!!

Typical streets in the Old Town Naples, I love how much character they have!
