A Small Part of Munich, Germany

Marienplatz in Munich, or Mary's Square!

When you come out of the subway this is what greets you, I couldn't have asked for anything better.  We were too late to hear the clock chime and see the little dancing people inside the clock so ... we'll have to come back I guess.  Isn't it a pity that I HAVE to come back? j/k

From Marienplatz we headed over to the oldest church
in town, St. Peter's Church, and climbed the tower (306 steps & costs 1,50 Euro/person) to get this great view.

Below is the inside of St. Peter's church

Above and Below is the inside of the Asam Church.  Our guide books described the inside as "a gooey, drippy, Baroque-concentrate masterpiece by Bavaria's top two Rococonuts".  Hah!  It couldn't be more true!  I mean, it really is dripping of Baroque.  It was built in 1740 to show off the work of two brothers in order to promote what they could make your church look like.  Come on in and let's go shopping.  It is rather impressive.

Above and Below is yet another church in Munich.  This is St. Michael's Church, one of the 1st Renaissance buildings north of the Alps.  I love how white and how wide this church is.

Above is a shot of the pedestrian shopping area - how I love these characteristic walkways all over Europe.

Munich's Residenz

If any of you have seen the newer version of The Three Musketeers you might recognize the picture above.  But please, if you haven't, DON'T see the movie.  It is an absolute waste of time and you will wish you had those 2 hours back.  But I do have to say it was really fun to see Venice, Bamberg, Würzburg and Munich all in the show as they tried to portray Paris back in the day.

Anyway, the next two pictures are of the Residenz as well.  It is beautiful!!

We tried to get a cool night picture of the Residenz but it wasn't lit up very well so it didn't look all that neat.  Next time, eh?  Instead we got this night shot right before we went underground to grab the subway home.
